On May 23, 2019, Dr. Mario Villarroel, held a meeting with Dr. Kerem Kinit, Vice President of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for Europe who is also the President of the Turkish Red Crescent.

The reason for the meeting was to analyze and try to support both the national society of the Venezuelan Red Cross and the population of that country.

The XXI Inter-American Conference of the Red Cross, was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from May 20 to 23, 2019.

More than 300 representatives of the 35 National Societies of America analyzed the progress of the Movement in the continent since the last Conference held in Houston, Texas and widely discussed about the future of the Red Cross in the region, establishing as a priority the leadership and humanitarian vision.

Dr. Mario Villarroel, President of the Venezuelan Red Cross, held a private meeting with the Nobel Peace Prize Alberto Pérez Esquivel and participated with him within the framework of the Inter-American Conference of the Red Cross in the discussion entitled “Future of humanitarian action“.

As part of the celebration of the XXI Inter-American Conference of the Red Cross, a forum was held on the current situation of migration in the Americas. 6Th Presidents of the Red Cross in the American continent, (Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia and Venezuela).

There, it was possible to analyze the difficult situation of displaced people in South America and the northern triangle.

Dr. Mario Villarroel gave an exhibition on the current situation of Venezuelan migrants to different countries in the region.

On April 16, 2019, Dr. Mario Villarroel (Presidente de la Cruz Roja Venezolana) participated in the reception of humanitarian aid income in Venezuela.

Approximately at 8:00 am, the first flight with humanitarian aid from the International Federation arrived from the Humanitarian Hub in Panama. It contained 14 electric generators, medical surgical kits with a capacity for 30,000 people and medical supplies necessary to safeguard the lives of the most vulnerable.

Dr. Mario Villarroel, President of the Venezuelan Red Cross, held a courtesy meeting with Her Excellency Edit Buscsi-Szabó, Ambassador of Hungary in the Republic of Ecuador and Concurrent Ambassador in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to analyze the situation of humanitarian aid in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, an Extraordinary National Steering Committee of the Venezuelan Red Cross was held, with the participation of most of the Committees of the National Society.

In that meeting, Dr. Miguel Villarroel participated as Vice President of the institution and Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Topics of great interest for the Venezuelan Red Cross and how Humanitarian aid was received in Venezuela were discussed.

On March 29, 2019, the official announcement of access to humanitarian aid to Venezuela was made by the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The same consisted with the presence of Dr. Mario Villarroel (President of the Venezuelan Red Cross) and Cardinal Baltazar Porras.

Dr. Mario Villarroel President of the Venezuelan Red Cross presided over the National Steering Committee that took place at the Headquarters of the National Society in Caracas. In this Committee it was possible to analyze and discuss topics of great interest both for the National Society and for the country in the current situation it is going through.

On February 8, 2019, a meeting took place at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Red Cross, between the Special Commission for humanitarian aid of the National Assembly and the Members of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Media Red Crescent and the Venezuelan Red Cross.

The people who participated in the Meeting were the President of the National Assembly Commission, Deputy Miguel Pizarro and the Vice President of the Manuela Bolivar Commission, by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Dr. Francesco Roca (President) and Dr. Miguel Villarroel (Vice-President) and the Venezuelan Red Cross, Dr. Mario Villarroel (President).
