Nomination of Dr. Mario Villarroel Lander for the Presidency of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Dear Mr. / Mrs. President
After very cordially greeting you, I would like to inform you that during the last months many National Societies of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent of different regions of the world, have requested me to consider the possibility of presenting my candidature to the Presidency of our International Federation for the next elections, which will take place on November 2009, in Nairobi, Kenya.
I have carefully analyzed this proposal considering the importance of our Federation and the need that it can continue developing its humanitarian activity in favor of the most vulnerable persons, more efficiently every day, in a timely manner, and always inspired by the Fundamental Principles that shape its values and philosophy.
After long days of reflection with my family, my wife and four children, as well as with members of the Board of Directors of my National Society, and several conversations with many friends of the Movement, I would like to inform you that I have decided to submit my candidature to the Presidency of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent National Societies for the period 2009-2013, during the elections that shall take place next November in the framework of the XVII General Assembly.
I present my name as a candidate that offers the experience of being a volunteer with several decades of service to the Venezuelan Red Cross, the International Federation and of the Movement.
Soon I will send you adequate information about my candidature, including my Curriculum Vitae and of course my vision for the future of the Federation.
